Disco 2 bonnet cable

searched a few freds but to not much avail...the lever works & the cable is attached to it but pulling it wont release the mechanism...any ideas how to get the bonnet open? Tried pushing down whilst the missus pulls the handle but no joy...with the lever pulled..the cable feels slightly slack which i thought is odd-surely it should be under tension at that point?

right...if ya have a winch bumper where ya can squeeze up behind it & the intercooler...
use a screwdriver to prise off the anti theft shield.
whack mechanism with Bertha...Bobs ya wotsits...order new cable

ps it aint snapped, its slacker than g string on a mouses arse
