hi all, i have a td5 auto and have just changed the gearbox. on replacement i fitted a new XYZ switch as the old one was faulty. now, when i conect the xyz and the linkage up it seams to be that the xyz is a little further than the adjustment slots out. ive tried all day to adjust the linkage etc etc but thats not the problem. if i ignore the xyz i can feel for every gear so i know thats set up correctly. its just this switch, if i undo the alignment bolts the i can move it slightly past it and get the correct light ont he selector but if i move it back to just by the bolt holes, it all goes again. its driving me potty now. both the old and new switches are doing exactly the same. anyone shed a light?

thanks

are you sure the new box came from a td5 as well.
I may be way off but I seem to recall that when they went to the 4.4 petrol the box was lengthen by 15mm to cope with the extra power and allow more gearbox oil. Dont know if this is relevant or not

it was from a TD5 so the second hand guy said ?? we all know how unreliable these can be though, ive had many an argument with them. the numbers are the same however the serial number is slightly less so would have just come from a year before or similar. apart from that everything was the same. i have also put the XYZ on the old box and slid it underneath to connect it and exactly the same happens.
