They were thought of as a very underpowered car and a bit gutless in the Disco. Our 90 MPI is not to bad if you keep it wound up on the road but fine on the lanes.

Bit from wiki. about the T16 engine

"The non-turbo engine also found its way into the short-lived and generally underpowered Land Rover Discovery 2.0i. Land Rover also fitted the same engine to a special batch of Defenders built for the Italian Carabinieri, which operated an exclusively petrol-powered vehicle fleet. A development vehicle was also built using a turbocharged version of the engine which far out performed the V8 production cars, but no room could be found for it in Land Rover's vehicle strategy.

The engine produces 136bhp @ 6,000 rpm and 136lb/ft @ 2,500rpm of torque "

And of course yes the turbos putout about 200bhp but was never done as the reason above states:)

The engine and gearbox found there way into a Morgan, which means there's a good bit of value in those components. They've also been used in kit cars in the past, but there are more powerful and lighter options these days.

The seller is talking bollox about needing to bleed the injectors though, as the engine has a full self priming injection system.

Same sort of bollox as for a Freeloader, "propshaft removed for the sake of economy"
