Hello
Got a Disco 1 V8. manual.
What makes the diff lock engage and disengaqe?
Yes I know its the wee lever but ........
What actually makes it work?
Lever used regularly both diff lock and lo range.
Now the lever moves sideways easly but lock still on so cannot be a direct mechanical link as per ye olde yellow knob.
Help
Ta much

I thought it was vacum operated.

I could have made it up though!!!

linkage operates against a spring on selector shaft as you move linkage spring compresses and when diff tube and output shaft line up collar pushed over onto out put shaft dog teeth hence been able to engage while moving ,winding switch or stuck switch for light can cause selector to jam and hinder diff selection even though linkage is still working

Try jacking up a wheel and see if it is actually locked first - could just be an electrical gremlin...

If it is locked, get someone to waggle the lever whilst you rock the jacked up wheel against each side of the drivetrain 'play'... if that doesn't do it, try driving up a kerb and dropping back off under spirited accelleration...

The linkages have been known to snap check the bar circled in the pic.
