Disco 1 300tdi header tank ?

Hi guys
Can anyone tell me if the screw on cap on a disco 300tdi header tank is vented please.

I'm currently running an aftermarket ally header tank and the bottom rad hose blew off on the way back from Blackpool today managed to sort it temporarily but think the problem is the screw on cap to header tank is not vented

Most of the caps have a pressure relief part to them, if it exceeds the design pressure of the system it dumps the coolant

That's what i was thinking but i don't know why i didn't notice it when i first bought it and fitted it

Does the Disco 300tdi header tank cap have a vent if so i will replace the whole header tank and cap for a Disco one

Not sure but i've just looked on ebay where i bought mine from and they now do one with a twist type cap like on a radiator and an over flow pipe neck

I had the allysport full set up the header tank takes the original cap, ran mine for years without an issue.

NTC7161 shows as 15psi.

Just to aswer your question my new header tank cap came today and it does fit the ally header tank but i will still use the new see through one wnen it comes though

Now doubt its the same as any 300 series D1 diesel or petrol thats fitted with the genuine item. The cap has two valves as the cooling system is closed circuit. The 200 series D1 or an early RR wasn’t of course.
