Disco 1 3.9 efi lost keys

Hi all
Iv managed to misplace the keys for my v8 disco. It is solely an off road toy that I trailer about on odd weekends I have gone looking for the keys to get it ready for an outing this weekend but they are gone. If I can’t find anything by the weekend is there anyway to bypass this to get it starting and running again ?

Hi Pieman95, assuming u have access to the inside of your disco you could “hot wire” requiring only three lengths of wire to get the engine running, but that won’t over come the steering lock.

I’m right up the very north of Scotland so scousers are few and far between up here unfortunately

Look for threads on "replacing an ignition lock"
Basically, all you need to do is get the lock barrel off the column, which will overcome the steering wheel lock, (two anti theft bolts which can be removed using drills and easyouts, or simply by knocking them round with a hammer and chisel of old screwdriver.
Then separate the ignition component by removing one or two small screws. then you can start it with a (stubby) screwdriver.

I know what you mean, but this stuff is all over the web and that includes this forum.
At least I didn't tell him how to break into the car and get around the alarm!
In fact, removing the ignition barrel is there for all tor read in ;last month's Land Rover Monthly!!
