Hi,

Had a look through the archives and it seems this issue has happened a few times. But just to be sure.

I changed the engine oil and filter yesterday, put in 5ltr of oil and the dip stick was reading between Min and Max? The manual says it should be 6.85ltr of oil and filter.

Just wanted to double check that the distance between the top of the dipstick holder and the nut is 27cm. I might need to adjust this.

I best shove another 1.85 in it this morning.

Thanks

It is 6.85ltr in total, which is made up as 6.0ltr in the sump and 0.85ltr in the filter.
If you can measure the amount you've put in after an oil and filter change, you can check your dipstick accuracy from that.
Or you could dump the sump and refill with 6.0ltr and see if that makes a difference, as you will already have 0.85ltr in the filter.

No no no
6.85 is a dry fill ie a brand new engine thats never seen lube
After oil change go for 6 litre and then run it and leave to stand over night then dip it, 200 are buggers for lying dipsticks if not left to stand.
1 litre min to max.

Well mine went over the max with only 5 ltr added, I did the filter and when the change was done it was done on the level.

I have put 6.5ltr in it and run it yesterday for about 80 miles, all seems fine, but the dip stick is lying.

I did measure the dip stick which was 26cm from the top of the nut to the end of the tube, I'll try to find if this is correct. Also there is no rubber on the dipstick itself I'm assuming this is normal.

Disco or def engine? def engine has a different dipstick showing min, normal and high marks.
