Hi everyone.

I'm seriously confused here, does the Disco 2 TD5 2004 'Facelift' model have the diff lock fitted, and is there any way of telling?
I understand that on some models Land Rover left the Diff lock unit in place but disconnected it from the lever because they felt that it was redundant with the Traction Control.

Any help would be much appreciated and I thank you in advance.

You may well have the sticker on the centre consul instructing you how to use the diff lock, but the sure fire way to tell is if you have the diff lock function embossed on the high/low lever.

If this lever just has, H, N and L on it, then, on an 04 car, theres a pretty good chance that you dont have a diff lock equipped transfer box.

Cheers.

I have a 2001 Td5 and even though it just says L-N-H on the gear lever the difflock is there but just not connected .
When I had to remove one of the propshafts for a few weeks awaiting parts I went underneath and engaged difflock. There is a spindle sticking up from the transfer box and you can turn it with a 10mm spanner . Thats it .
Many seem to think that after about 2002 none of the D2's had difflock on the transfer box ; some thought that you could specify it when purchasing new ; and others thought it was fitted at random ;
You can check if your gearbox is difflock equipped by crawling underneath and looking for the spindle I mentioned ; its towards the front of the T/box and if it's there apparently you can get the appropriate levers etc and get it to work from inside as on the D1.

I am looking at connecting the diff lock on my year 2000 disco with a push pull cable (a bit like the choke on an old car). Does engaging the diff lock isolate the traction control system?

just convert it like everyone else and no diflock is mechanical centre diff lock

Thanks for all the help guys... I had a closer look at my disco and I think Diff lock is fitted because when I put the T/box to the left, the Diff lock warning light illuminates.

Again, thanks for the advice and help :)
