diff lock has jumped out ???

hello i have a 200tdi 93

i heard a loud bang a couple of months ago and took it in a garage wer a friend works ....

he has had a look at in as he though it could of been the cross shafts in the transfer box.

he part striped it and put a little carma up ther and he said it seems to be ok. but to keep cost low he advised me to try and get it in sum grass and wind it up again as he thninks it has poped out of diff lock(gear i think he said)

he has checked axles.

does this make any sense to any one any is any 1 around hull who could give us a hand or advice

well he has checked half shaft and diffs in the axles and ther al ok !!

i have put a new swtich in for the diff light to come on the dash do u think that i could off screw that down to far! preventing it to go all the way across this is is starting to do my heading now...

got my car back now n my m8 at the garage said he thinks that it jumped out of diff lock and if i got on sum grass and go rnd in circles forward and backwards it may work ?? doin this while it is in diff lock !!

its either in diff lock or it aint.Either way you should have forward drive to all four wheels if your on even grippy ground. Has he had the half shafts out?
 
it doesnt go into diff lock when i push lever left but it dosent go in !

he said go to a field and put the lever left (in diff lock position) and try and wind it up... to see if i hear any clunks or noises.

im not sure if he has had the half shafts out but he turned a wheel and summut and other to check the half shaft tho.. he said it was ok...

this diff lock thing is way to hard to explain for a beggner like e haha

no and i dont think itll help you either.That could be used to check if difflock is working. Does it drive in circles ok?If not then that would suggest difflock is stuck on.
 
it isnt stuck in diff lock i cnt get it in that is the problem... think i will av to bit the bullut and get it checked by takin the gearbox out...

i have tried everthing now and its doin my heading !!!!!!!!!! :mad:

i just want to go off roading in my car !!! and would like to have diff lock workin!!!

will check the linkage but wen i had it in diff lock b4 it went bang, sounded like front near side...

so lets hope it is something silly ... and i can go off roading.
