Defender wing tops

Going to put some chequer plate wing tops on . Is there anything I should put between the chequer plate and wing or should I rivit them straight on

I put some 3mm weather strip (it compresses to 1mm) under mine to stop any vibrations.

Mine are just metal to metal but I fitted mine using countersunk bolts and nylocs rather than rivets so it will not gradually work lose and vibrate, and if it does can very quickly be nipped back up. For the amount of effort some foam strips underneith will certainly not do any harm.
