Hi everybody, I need some turbo advice please.
I have a 2010 short wheelbase defender, the turbo has failed three times over the last 6months rendering the engine totally gutless, stopping and restarting has always worked to kick it back into life, but over time I’ve been burning more and more engine oil and now been told it’s the turbo causing this.
I am thinking that if I am to spend money on either a repair or replacement turbo then I may as well upgrade it.
I tow a heavy trailer regularly and had the engine remapped a few months ago as it would sometimes run out off puff if dragging a load up a long rise, the remapping was done with towing in mind rather than top end speed and actually made an amazing difference.
So my question to anybody that can advise me is, what would be the best turbo to buy to suit my towing needs and would I need the mapping altered to suit the new turbo.
Thank you to anybody that can help.

John

Sounds like it's going into limp mode, possibly from overboost due to the remap? Clutching at straws really I'd say get it plugged in first
