I need a right hand swivel housing with a drag link mount to convert a D1 front axle to LHD. Option one is to find one from a LHD Discovery or RRC. Option 2 - I understand later Defenders have a drag link mount on both swivels. Would a Defender swivel housing fit a Disco axle?

what age of defender 300tdi and on the disco rrc and defenders swivels are the same they arent prior

Hi, thanks for the response. The axle's from a 300tdi D1 (I think it was a 1995 vehicle). I believe Defenders have drag link mounts on both swivel housings from 2007 onwards - but if that's the only relevant difference then I'd be a happy man indeed as the LHD Disco parts are like hens' teeth.

they do it saves building 2 axles lhd and rhd ,why dont you just get the whole axle

Cost, mostly - I could get a new swivel housing for the Disco axle for about £200 and a Defender axle would cost me more than that :(

Have now purchased a 2003 Defender axle for a little under £200 with delivery and will sell on the Disco axle. It's got a good diff in it and has all been stripped and de-rusted and given four coats of paint, so it should be of use to someone.
