Defender front grill

Has anyone made their own Defender front grill?

All of the off the shelf replacement units are expensive and unavailable after use.

Front grills are about £20.

Not sure you can make one for less than that.

+1 I bought one and installed a wire/metal mesh behind it to protect the rad..

Unavailable after use? What were you expecting them to be available for? Autographs perhaps?

Looks good with the mesh under it

I fitted the mesh as I have had two rads damaged by the gritters during the winter in the snow. Its a quick job to fit.

Not sure why you want to make your own, replacement units are both readily available and cheap as chips.
Unless you are looking in the wrong places or want something aftermarket, in which case, yes they charge a premium, sure I paid £150ish for my nakatanenga heritage style grill, compared to a standard one at sub £20..

Tasteful job.

There is a 63 plate defender in CGS Old Amersham with an awful front grill (machined ally), go have a look.

More likely machined stainless.

I have a genuine stage 1 v8 grille and surround on mine, 30 quid off EBay. Took me 3 years to find it though.

Yes you are correct. What I meant to impart was I would like to find or create an aftermarket grill that will look different but fitting and tasteful.

Understand but I would like something like you have which is going to make my vehicle a little bit different from the rest. I also live in Ireland and there is a distinct lack of supply of material, including readily available Defender grills. Once shipping is added it is almost as cheep to buy something different which enhances the look of the LR.

I've got a KBX set on mine, wanted it purely for the look. Not overly cheap but what I wanted.

People rarely sell them second hand

£14.10 free postage, on ebay cheap as chips.

It's a long way from the west of Ireland, but I thank you for your suggestion
