Hi, does anyone know if you can get replacement hinge pins for the Defender front doors? My plan was to replace them with stainless pins. I can't find any for sale anywhere, only seem to be able to find complete hinges. I can find hinge pins for the rear safari door, but that's all. Anyone got any info on this?

the advice i was given when i looked (still not got round tuit) but not to bother, and replace the lot, you'd be hared pushed to get the old ones out, and the hole would be enlarged anyway, so new ones may not fit.
Go for TD5 hinges, as these have a plastic bush in there to stop the metal/metal contact that causes those orrid rust stains.

Thanks for the replies guys. The TD5 hinges sound appealing, I didn't realise that they had plastic bushes in, but that would make sense. As for roll-lock pins, sorry, but I really don't know what they are - could you explain?

I did read a write up once some one got them
Out and replaced them and fitted a grease nipple try google and do search

Take tired drooping original hinges, knock out hinge pin from underneath and seperate hinge halves.

Lightly run a countersinking bit into either end of the bulkhead hinge pin holes to help centre the drill bit/tap
Drill the top hole of the bulkhead half to 8mm (the top half of the hinge looking downwards), and drill the door part of the hinge also to 8mm.
Drill and tap the lower hole of the bulkhead half to 8*1.25mm
Drill a 5mm hole slightly off centre of the hinge pin in the door half so it just breaks into the hinge pin hole, tap to 6mm for a grease nipple.
Use a 8mm *80mm cap head screw as the shoulder length is correct for this application (the hinge will swivel on the shoulder part of the bolt rather than any threads), Shorten bolt by approx 10mm before assembling the hinge.
Notch the bulkhead half with a grinding disc so the grease nipple has clearance on full opening-not really required if door check straps are working correctly.

Not sure how long it'll last but they're slop free and the door shuts nicely at the moment and probably have less slop than some new Britpart replacement!

Hi guys, thanks for all the replies. I really like the look of the Croytec hinges but let's be serious, who can afford £300 for a set of hinges? So think it's the other option, drill, tap, stainless caphead bolt, etc. That sounds like a great idea to me. Thanks once again.
