Been so excited about getting a 90 I never checked what the fuel cost would be like!!
Does anyone know how many miles I could get out of a full tank from a defender 90 200tdi roughly please =]

How longs a piece of string?

Depends on a lot of things. Driving style, tyres, load, road conditions, traffic congestion etc...

If I fill up with 45 litres I can get between 280-300 miles, and it varies from 29mpg to 34mpg.

Edited to add - I've got road biased tyres on which have helped a huge amount. Recently put my roof rack rack on but I doubt this makes much difference to fuel consumption, its built like a brick anyway.

If the engines looked after it'll help. A snorkel will decrease mpg a little (I have one fitted). Also remember that the type of driving I.e. motorway, urban etc... Will make a difference too. Much like any car

I have a 200tdi 110, which probably isnt directly comparable, but may help. I work it out as pence per mile, and I get around 180-200 miles for 40 quid. This, I have just worked out to be around 30 to the gallon. My journey to work is about 8/9 miles each way, through town, but avoiding the peak traffic times. I have a run out at the weekend of about 20 miles each way. No roof rack, and no sportiness to my driving style.

My genuine 200tdi 90 is on about 25mpg best. Opened up fuel pump l, snorkel and me nobly tyres prob don't help.

@ 70p a litre for veg oil I effectively used to get 64mpg in the 90 on dino prices when driving carefully

how careful is careful... I always tell people to drive imagining an egg between their foot and the accelerator and don't break it.... amazing how much smoother people suddenly drive lol

cheap motoring :)

cheers steve
