Hi all, This morning I came to start my defender and it started as usual no problem at all then cut out after 3 seconds and wouldn’t fire at all after that. I primed the lift pump up and it fired straight away and has run fine all day. It’s been left about 3 hours and done the exact same again. Has anyone had any issues like this before? Possible lift pump?
Thanks in advance

Welcome to Lz matey if it started by priming the pump I would just replace it as a cheap one is under 20 quid
when was the last time it had a fuel filter replaced.

Cheers Kev

It’s a pleasure Kev, thankyou for replying. It gets serviced yearly and only does about 5k miles. It last got done in March. Runs spot on when it’s running. This morning it wouldn’t fire at all until I primed it but tonight it eventually fired after turning over for about 5 seconds. Was just wondering if there’s anyway fuel can run back to tank e.g through injectors whether that could be the issue. I’ve just been looking at lift pump prices I may as well get one seen as they’re only £20 ish. Thankyou for your reply

My mate had the same issue last week & nicked my spare new one,
that solved his issues & you've just reminded me I must get another spare one ;)

That’s good to know then hopefully it’ll just be the diagram pulling in a bit of air overtime. I’m glad my issue has reminded you . What are you running?
