Hi All,

Hopefully you can point me in the right direction late last year the airbag light stayed illuminated on the dash board, my local garage cleared the fault code and it stayed off.

Last weekend it came on again this was when going over some rough and uneven ground. Before I take it back down to the garage is there anything I can check myself as in wondering if I’ve lossened something. It’s s D3 06 plate. I’m not the most mechanical person in the word so apologies if I come back with further daft questions

Cheers
Matt

You really need to get the fault codes as theres quite a few air bags in the car.

Common on many cars is the wiring under the seat, ie you move the seat and on comes the light, or turn the steering and the light comes on indicating clock spring.

Cheers Lynall, decided to bit the bullet and buy and icarsoft I930 will read the codes off and see what it is

I wouldn't bother with the I930 for the D3. You're better of spending more and get a decent diagnostic tool. The D3 is absolutely packed with electronic modules, so you'll need something better than a basic Chineseium reader.

I had the Gap Diagnostics IID in Bluetooth form when I had my D3. It was invaluable for many electronic problems, which the D3 does seem to be prone to getting.

The 1930 is not a basic reader, it will in fact read everything the iid will right down to injector codes and every other ecu on the car.
What it cannot do is reprogramme stuff ie gearbox pararemeters and other proper techy stuff.

Tried it on my mates range rover and it also read every system on that car, for the money awesome bit of kit.

It is a basic code reader/eraser, nothing more. It's ok as a get out of jail card, maybe, but that's it.
If a D3 or later LR is going to be a long term vehicle, then you need something better.

It can't connect reliably to some modules. There's zero support from the maker too.

No it can't programme or update anything, which is necessary on the D3, if dealer trip are to be avoided.

So you've not used an IID then. By comparison, the I930 is a basic toy.

Nodge the i930 is damned good for the money try one and see
A basic code reader will read engine codes and thats it, the i930 read all codes from all systems on my d3.
I had an 1930 and now have the iid and tbh yes it does more, but so far (4 years) Ive only needed basic stuff doing/clearing

For a hundred quid you really cant go wrong, they also sell very well second hand so the monetary loss over a year for me was a tenner.

I930 cannot programme the california stop software that the iid can and thats the only time I defo needed the iid over the i930.

Theres some decent videos on youtube of the i930
