Hi Guys. New to forum, I've had a few D3s earlier, and now back with a D2 "restoration" project.
Current issue, last 2-3 weeks the instrument cluster was completely fine. Today there was a complete party in the cluster, everything lights up. And the lynx evo can't connect..
Is there a ecu for the cluster under the glove box?

Anyone with any ideas?
Many Thanks - Christian

Hi. Dog my cats if i understand what you mean... "party in the cluster" ? lynx evo can't connect?...how? it doesnt show you the options? ... though lynx evo is a bad joke anyway
Is there a ecu for the cluster under the glove box?
the BCU is there which has to do with it but it's not ''for the cluster"

explain clearer what happens

Hi, Okey.. So earlier the instrument cluster was completely fine.
No warning lights, etc. Everything Okey.
Then it's like this.. "driving lights" are switched off..

These lights just keep illuminate..
All these lights stays on..

If the vehicle is driving OK and everything works normally except that oddity then most probably the instrument pack has an internal issue

Yes, everything works fine, switches, indicators etc are all good. Can I just source a used one without any issues regarding milage reading etc or would it need coding?

You can fit used one but if it has higher mileage in it than your's then that's it, you can't reduce it, if it's lower you can synk it up or let it be ...anyway a tester is needed to disable the odometer error warning. In a nutshell: the IP is not simply plug and play

Good luck, maybe you are lucky to find a fixable crack on the pcb or a dry joint or something though it's a verry complex unit with integrated circuits

Thanks. If I find the fault I have all the PCB rework tools needed, but I think it's more related to a wire or connector than the pcb itself..

Nice to have. Also found this nice picture of all the ground points in the D2

Anyway, pulled the carpet and it was a bit moist in the footwell. Dried this and cleaned the all connectors I could find, now the cluster works fine again..
"knock on dashboard" let's see if this was the case..

Interesting, good to know that an earth issue can cause such symptom.... it kind'a contradicts all the logic of how the IP should work o_O ... another evidence that LR works in mysterious ways

Hi,
The C0551 earth point that says RH side, under the pedals, you would thing this might be on the Left side for LH drive cars, But I cant find it on that side. Havent really tried to take out the carpet on the RH side. I should probably try that..
Its all the sympthoms that I have.. instrument pack. sometimes the diagnostic plug is not communicating..

Just checked...nothing on my right hand side... unless its tucked way up there behind the interior fan or something..
