Does any one have advice on how to repair a dash that is starting to lift around the air blower section of the dash. (the one at the front pointing towards the window.

Attemps at using Evo stick have failed, is there any solution that can be applied to soften the dash at the curly points before glueing, Or am I on the look out for a second hand unit and many hrs of work (Its a LHD unit)

Ductch, when you say Evo Stik do you mean the regular stuff, or the impact adhesive?

Evo-stik "Impact adhesive" is pretty effective with things like that providing you can access and hold the two parts together for a couple of minutes properly after you get to the sticking together part!

Matt.

Hello Matt,

The impact type was used, sufaces pushed together after 15 min and cooked in the spanish sun ( 45 c +)

This lasted about six months, but with the sun out again the front section (plastic air director) has actualy lifted out of position by about 15mm moved by the front dash curling.

I did see a advert many moons ago ( discovery dash repair) that used a trim that was placed and screwed on the bad area.

I would apear that the top surface has a different expansion rate to the bottom material, to make maters worse it is in the most dificult place to get to (for cleaning the under surface) hence the question if there is some form of softning agent that could be applied befor another attempt at glueing.

At worst I would have to remove the dash (I have a blend motor to change out) its just the thought of having to go down that road

Hi, mine have somekind of small rubber piece inside of vent. It seems to be tight enought that it expands grille and helps it staying in.

RH side been like that over one year, LH needs same soon. It started to lift from dash... :(

Hi
We have had a similiar problem on discovery series I.
We have taken a piece of aliminium strip, formed it to fit the the shape of the dash then used counter sunk screws to fasten it into the dash. We powder coat the strips to match the dash. If this is done neatly it looks quite good actually. As for a softening agent, if you find one please let me know. Hope i could help
