Looking at a conversion for the 110, however id really like a start-to-finish guide from someone who has done it before me so i can avoid costly mistakes.
I know that Nick Steggel and pressbrake on here have done it but i dont think Nick has been on for a while. Ive contacted pressbrake and await a response.
I really need help from more knowledgeable folk than me as while im pretty good mechanically, im worse than hopeless with fabrication/welding so really need help with gearbox adapter dimensions, gearbox/engine mount advice etc.
Any help greatly received :)

Lovely engines apart from numerous oil leaks, so it will be right at home!

chap in the 101 section has just started a build thread.

You've read the "big purple one" on here i take it?

Yea ive read Nicks build thread. Very impressive indeed. Ive tried contacting him but dont think hes been about for a while :(

If you need any advice - I may be able to help as i work at Cummins, what spec of engine are you going for ?

Thanks mate. I will probably eventually take you up on that.
Engine will be a 12v keeping electronics/electrics to a bare minimum. Holset 35 or 40 turbo. Larger injectors. P7100 pump. Looking for around 500BHP. Which im led to believe is actually quite conservative for these motors once you start playing with them.. :)

600hp depending what performance parts. This replica is set to make a world record later this year but with the look of the original car in the 1920's but powered by the latest Cummins 6B.

The torque generated while at 500bhp will destroy a lr chassis and complete drivetrain including the xf 5 42 that comes with this engine on daf 45 version
So now you need to source a heavy auto box from state side and 14 bolt gm axles etc etc
Forget the lt 230 transfer box which is one of the best but not at 1000lb torque
The list goes on

Would totally agree, youre ****ing up a downpipe trying to put that much power (torque) through a standard defender.

Im collecting a Daf 45 this evening to start this conversion, so must have a look at the thread on LR 4X4!

@Pressbrake, be prepared for a mountain of questions in the coming months :D

Plan to use the LT230. H.A.T.E auto boxes so will be looking to uprate either the ZF or Dana 5 speeds. Dana 60 axles will eventually be sourced.

@pressbrake i sent you a message but dont think you have got it?

Pffft wimp! Get twin 80's on the rear and a 70 up front, as to the chassis I'd make up a new HD one for yourself so it doesn't get fooked!

My new chassis is a 6mm box section monster which will take the 454 and then the Detroi Diesel I have planned for it next year
