Cubby Box.

Is there an Idiots Guide to fitting a Cubby Box, just got decent second hand one, it has those black tube feet with it think they are for a little extra height.
Do I just bolt it to the Lid that covers the hole ?

Use rivnuts in the floor, and well-greased (to stop corrosion) screws through the base of the box. Then its a one man job to fit or remove the box.

This is how I fitted mine after messing round the first time I removed it. I used 4 off M6 stainless rivnuts, just drilled the original through holes larger to accept the rivnuts.

In your case @border i would position the cubby box where you want it, Mark the first hole and drill that. Set the rivnut and bolt the box back in place. Make sure you align it where you want again, and then mark and drill the remainder. That way if your not completely happy with its position after the first hole, you only have one hole to plug.

This is what I have Ideally want to make it Easy to get to handbrake ect underneath. Not sure if the cover plate is the right one but it fits, just not bolted down yet.

That looks very similar to mine, but that one is much wider than the one I have. I will take photos next time I have it out.

Basically, that cover plate is bolted down with 4 bolts. 2 off M6 through the sides of the plate, and 2 off M8 through the front of the plate. The cubby box is bolted to that plate with 4 off M6 bolts. You can’t get the plate off without the cubby box being removed first.

Thanks Mick, thought If I just bolted the cubby to plate, then would just have to unbolt whatever bolts I use on plate and lift the whole lot out.
I do have a Narrower plate somewhere will try that for size to.

My cubbybox covers the front 2 bolts, so I can’t do it that way. It will depend where you locate the cubbybox on the plate as to if yours will work or not.

The plates on mine are 3 different widths, but I’m not sure if that’s because I’m using a Puma seatbox or if they are all like that. I didn’t pay much attention to the original seatbox and cover plates.

Think from the size of this plate I could position the bolts so that I can see all 4 and lift the whole thing out, I didn't have a box under my drivers seat or a plate so I just cut a bit of checker plate to size and screwed it down with Tech bolts if I remember, crude I know but it works.

In that case, I’m guessing that’s for the drivers side. I wouldn’t worry about the “new cover plate”, whatever works for you.

If you can get it to the point where you can unbolt it with the cubbybox still attached, then that’s what I would do. Just nuts and bolts if that’s the case.

Those standoffs would allow you to have it slightly further back, over the seatbox/tub lip. You could then get at a couple of bolts which hold the 'cover plate' on so making removal easy (like wot @border said really) ...
