ok, this may seem a picky thread but i have searched before to no avail.

My cruise works all fine, its just I am a bit short on understanding LR logic.

Am i right in thinking the only way to turn off the cruse while going along is to either press the brake pedal or lean over (im 6'3" and its still not exactly easy to reach) to the cruise button and turn it off?

I only ask as I hate putting my brake lights on for just slowing down on the motorway and leaning across is not only a bit illogical but also means you cant just hit the resume button when the numpty is back in the right (left) lane!

I thought the cruise control turns off when you press the resume button whilst cruise control was being used
 
i have the book but sadly i also have a mac which said electric book doesnt work on!

i will try the resume thing if that seems to be the answer, thanks for the help!

A quick dab of the brakes is unlikely to be noticable. The switch is located where it is for the American market. I moved mine to a spare position on the right by the steering wheel in easy reach. Most cruise controls cancel on the brakes, some have a cancel button on the wheel.
 
i was thinking that i am definitely moving mine if i ever take the dash off, its ridiculous where it is!

i just hate dabbing the brakes as it annoys me so much when people do it for no reason on the motorway, maybe they just all have the same bloody system!!
 
the res cancels the cruise and then another press re enables it. if you turn off the ignition then it clears the res. . the set increases speed whilst in cruise or starts cruise at current speed.

so cruise on at 50mph, press res, reduce speed to desired speed and press set new speed set. increase speed with set. if you do touch the brakes and slow in traffic, pressing res wil take you back to the last set speed.


its not fu king rocket science!!

also i leave my cruise switch on all the time but some times i have to press it on and off a couple of times, it seem to forget its on!!!

Hi all, Mikethebook again.
This time it is the cruise control!
I was checking around and found that the short hoses to the diaphragm unit were all perished and took that to be the reason the cruise does not engage, so I renewed them all, except the one that disappears through the bulkhead on the drivers side. That one seems OK now I have removed the split end and re fitted it.
When I push the button on the dash it lights up as it should, but nothing at all happens. I am not a great lover of cruise control, but I just hate it when things do'nt work properly.
Anything anyone tells me will be news, so I am all ears??

ok tabs, (tabs is yorkshire for ears)

theres a little pump located behind the fuel seperator on the same side of the diaphragm. clean the plug contacts and fiddle about with it and it should spring into life.

also theres a relay under the drivers side dash, this should click when cruise is engaged. check it out and replace if needed. you will have to remove the panel under the steering wheel to get to it. but you should hear it click even whilst driving its audible.

also bear in mind cruise only works after 28mph!! (i think)
 
tried it earlier at 40mph, set turned it on, res did not turn it off so it must just be mine that doesnt listen to me!

the rest of it i understood perfectly it was just the turning it off without the use of brakes and the big button.

Sadly slowing down using the "RES" button only works on petrol models...;)

Check the connection to the ECU under the front passenger seat - mine had worked loose and although switch light was on, nothing was working. Once I'd secured it everything worked fine.
 
The cruise control on my lorry will switch off if I touch the clutch - so if it aint an automatic, try that.

By the way, many moons ago I was ANEGG - but my dad fertilized me.

I think his is a smoker as well....

I take it your not a fan? There not that bad once you get used to them....
 
its like all things range rover, you either love em or hate em but i just dont think the engine in the diesel has enough power unless its modified.

and i dont understand diesel engines so obviously it would be foolish to buy one knowing you will have to rely on other people to fix what could be a very simple issue!!

ive always wanted a diesel motorbike tho, just to be super efficient!! well probably not now as the prices cancel out most of the efficiency of diesel versus petrol but it would be interesting to have a diesel bike!!

I saw a diesel motorbike on the TV, I seem to remember it was in India and made by Enfield. Company probably owned by TATA, same as LR, so not reliable:rolleyes:

Thought all Royal Enfields were diesels they certainly sounded like them. The only motorcycle ever made that came with a set of oil proof leggings as standard. :):):)
