Firstly, yes i have searched. I have searched the forum, i have searched Google and not found the right answer yet.

Bought the bits to put cruise control on my 1999 TD5 - firstly the on/off switch, i thought it went in the 3rd position down on the right? Took the blanking off and no wire behind, take the 4th one down and there is a wire behind that one. Could this be the right wire? What else would go in position 4? The switch is keyed so would only fit in position 3.

This wouldn't be the first time Land Rover have put the wrong wire behind the wrong blanking plate, had some fun and games with the heated wind screen switch too - but before taking the steering wheel to bits thought i'd check as if it doesn't have the right wiring there's no point continuing.

Secondly - radio - i don't have the code, i know i can get it for free from Land Rover, but only in person with proof of ownership. Are there any advantages to doing this first, i.e. before disconnecting the negative from the battery? I can't see any advantages. Did find someone talking about putting it into USA mode first, but couldn't work out how to do that (Its the R990 system)

If you have the switch try the cable as each plug will only fit its corrct switch, mine was the 3rd one down but on a 2004 so the fuel release was on 4th down.

As for radio code got mine the other day fromt he dealer just took the log book in. But you do not need to disconnect the battery to do the cruise just pull the air bag fuses and wait 15 mins.

Well that's a bit obvious, i now feel rather stupid. thanks.

The wire fits the switch, but, the issue i had with the heated screen was the wrong wire also fitted the switch - so i thought they may be generic for the type if switch.

I shall go and pull some fuses!

Ok, though now i want to check, is it literally just the one fuse

in the manual it says Fuse no. 35 is a 10amp fuse for Airbag SRS - DO NOT REMOVE for in cab fuses - doesn't appear that any engine bay fuses relate to Airbags.

I didn't even had to visit the dealer to get the Radio and EKA codes. Just rang up, and quoted the chassis number!

Well turns out it was one easier than that... it hasn't had the code switched on yet :) so i guess if it gets stolen a thief will get a good deal, but, also makes my life easier. I know how to turn it on, but, don't know the code and given that i'm going to probably be doing other jobs on it there's not a lot of point

And cruse control now installed :) - Just about to take it for a test run, i had to make the bracket for it (hence it was a 2 hour job) but it's all done now
