Does a 1990 3.9 v8 classic have a crank sensor?

The guy at the garage called and says he has now tried everything apart from crank sensor and ecu and he is getting a crank sensor in for the 4th to try it. They are £60 and if it doesnt work he will send that back and get a used ecu for between £70 and £110.

Last I heard we thought my classic didnt have a crank sensor, what do you guys think?

I think you need to find a garage that knows what they are doing,no,it does not have a crank sensor. If there is no spark ALL the ignition components can be tested,no need to do a "Parts Shotgun" firing new bits at it to see what makes it go.

if it has a dizzy then theres no crank sensor, the crank sensor does the job of the dizzy in a sense (thats the most crude sense too)

It has a spark and fuel but wont run, I recon ECU then?

I might try and tell him tomorrow but , there aint no point ****in him off, I still got a bill comin lol

I dont know if they have done that yet , but it can have lost all compression overnight when running fine the day before??

Like the guys have indicated above start at the begining and work through it.

All you need is a decent digital volt meter and you can check and test the ignition system. If you're not careful you'll end up throwing a ridiculous amount of money at it and not be any the wiser. If there is a spark and you have fuel then there is something silly causing the problem. Patience and common sense should see it sorted.

well its in there hands now , my confidence in them is waining a little re the crank sensor but if he isnt charging me for parts it doesnt need then he is probably just stalling for time as its been two weeks since I originally booked it in!

I am temped to buy a three door on carbs as this is Boloks!
