Does any one in the Yeovil area know where I can buy pipe to replace my knackered oil breather pipes.

This is for a 2.5TD (yes one of those, and before anybody says, I'd love to replace the engine but can't afford it at the moment;)).

The pipe is hydrolic type stuff, thick walled with woven re-enforcing over the outside and an internal diameter of approx 15mm.

Your 2.5 TD is today exactly as good as it was when it first came out, and at that time it was a revelation! Don't knock it. Driven sensibly and not thrashed they will give good service. My chum did well over 180,000 miles in one of the first ones up here without a single problem. I drove it on a 1,000 mile round trip in a weekend, four up and stashed to the roof with kit at the back, and it did nearly 35 miles to the gallon cruising 75-80-ish. That was a Disco 1, and it rolled like a drunken pig on corners and roundabouts .... ROUNDABOUTS !!!! Wow, they could be exciting!

Any pipe with the correct inside diameter will do. It's neither under any significant pressure nor vacuum. Collapsed hoses can stop the engine from disposing of fumes which are mostly steam, and if that happens the steam condenses into water when the engine cools down, and that makes acid, and that stuffs your engine's delicate bits.

ANY hoses are better than stuffed hoses.

Yes, I know all about stuffed hoses, when one of them broke it fell against the turbo and melted shut. the result was a pressure build up that pumped the oil out around the oil filter, very messey:rolleyes:.

I'm not knocking it, I've run the wee beast for 5 years or so now, just trying to forstall the usual comments.:D:D:p:D:D

i think ive still got em from when i took me td out and put in a 200tdi,i can check on sunday in the lockup if you want them,i can post them if you cover postage costs

:)Thanks for the offer, but what I'm after is some longer lengths of that type of pipe so that I can run them into a vapour trap before going to the airbox. I've just not managed to find any where that sells some thing suitable.
