Where is it cracked and how badly? I know a lot of the guys in SA have had their cracked heads welded, as recons from Landy will set you back a heap..

Thanks guys crack is in fuel gallery, sump full of diesel.
Quote for new head from main dealer £1900.00 plus vat. have tried recon spares from breakers prices from £265to £1500 with upto 6 months warranty.
Any addvice on when the better head design was introduced so I can look for that year to buy replacement TD5?

That one's easy to answer: they didn't......
Best speak to Frida at Turners - a complete new head + fitting kit will set you back around £1300. The head they supply is made by the original manufacturer, but apparently with all the cracking issues sorted out.
