Could it be diff?

Got a metalic grinding sound when driving very slow, also noticed occasionally feeling like i drove over a brick or something at the rear.......

Does this sound like the rear diff about to die?

Given that you have a recent MOT it might not be UJs, but I would check them first. Also any vertical movement in the diff pinion.

I've had a grinding noise coming from the back....

i was going to say wheel bearing, as that was my problem, but if you have had an MOT...maybe its not that.
but probably worth checking if all the rollers are in there still...

I'm going to do an oil change on the diff on Saturday so will check all of that lot then. Thanks for the prompt responses.

Without taking the pan off, is there a way to check diff is OK?

Vertical movement or 'in/out' movement of the diff pinion shaft will be bad signs. Otherwise look for metal fragments in the oil when you do the oil change
