Hello Everyone....I need some help.

I'm rebuilding a 1997 4.6 and need the inside diameter of the big end of the connecting rod. I have looked in every manual I can find on the net with no luck. Anyone out there know this info or know who I could ask?

Thanks for your help,
Joe

I need the other end not the small end diameter. I need the big end diameter of the rod without a bearing in the rod. When I disassembled the motor, I didn't have any spun bearings, but the shop I am using likes to double check everything. I'm glad they are that proficient, but taking longer than I hoped.

they should check for ovality / distortion when rod and cap are tightened to correct torque, using a bore guage/cpmparitor,if its true then its ok, then check bearing nip with the bearings fitted, that will show how much clamping pressure will be on bearings ,are you sure they fully know what they are doing

I/machinist understand what your saying, but when a company makes bearings it has to know what in outside diameter of the bearing needs to be to fit correctly. My machinist has shown me in his bearing catalogs what he is looking for, unfortunately his books don't have a lot of Rover info. They will list the bearing and then housing size of the connecting rod. That housing size is what is eluding me.

how come your not using oem bearings

I am using OEM bearings. I'm explaining the lack of info his books have when looking up a Rover. When looking up a bearing for a Ford, for example, it will give the bearing part number and the housing diameter of the rod.

i dont understand if your using oem bearings you dont need conrod diameter ,only comparison between all 8 and they are round no ovality or distortion, and measuring bearing nip ,and a set of oem bearings for a 4.6 rover v8, if conrods are round they are factory spec ,measure them, though it wont help in a rebuild
