hi im looking at a 2002 freelander 1.8 h/b which is suppose to be the facelift model, but it still has the same dash clocks as my 99 model i thought the clocks would be the newer design? could it have been old stock un registerd? or am i missing something?i thought the mild face lift was 2001,ie y and 51 reg?

Firstly, why would you even consider the petrol when almost everyone here says DON'T TOUCH IT.

Secondly, the 2000 facelift was cosmetically fairly minor, black bumpers/trim, clear indicator lenses etc. The real upgrade for the cosmetics was 2004 "53" plate for some though most were "04" plate and later. I believe that this was when the interior was also updated.

ps buy a Td4 instead.

ok guys, ive had range rovers, disco 2s,a 300tdi defender which i just sold on ebay thats gone to holland,so im well up on land rovers,my 1999 v reg 1.8 petrol, with full service history and uprated h/gasket.metal dowels, uprated thermostat has gave me no trouble at all!!!!! zilch nothing,so thats why i was looking at it,if you know what to check on a 1.8 petrol there a goodbuy, i have a td4 commercial with 150k on the clocks with the turbo seals just gone, and i think the engine might be f**ced now as it fairly sucks the oil out the engine, anyway thats my rant out the way lol,so back to the clocks are they wrong????

If you know what to look for and how to maintain/improve it then go for it. I love my 1.8k freeby to bits!

You'll be able to tell if it's the 2000 facelift by the front grill. On the very first mild facelift landrover changed the grill from a fully removable one, to one that was part of the bumper. It's easiest to tell where it touches the bonnet as the middle section will be part of the bumper where the pre-facelifted it will be black, and screw onto the bumper just under the bonnet.

If it has the same clocks etc as your 1999 it should be right as none of the interior was upgraded until 2003 i believe as Opti said above.

ok iv had a look at some 52 plates and they have the new clocks it was an 02 i was looking at,anyway i just thought it might have been dodgey or something but now i know, cheers
