hi guys ive had it up to hear with my clio sport peice of crap it breaks down more than a manic depressive on a downer

ok so here is the plan sell the clio and get some decent money i do about 240 miles a week sometimes less.

would a 4.6 Range Rover On LPG be anygood im totall noob the only land rover ive known is my mums Disco 3 i drove it the other day and fell in love

so do u guys think id be doing the right thing, also whats the range and consumption on LPG conversion? and more importantly is it reliable?
 
Seriously ... you're asking on a Landrover forum if a Landrover (RangeRover) is any good!!!! .... FFS ...

If you've driven and like the D3, buy a D3.

So much depends on what you want it for ...
 
For that price yes, a decent Range Rover can be had, but IMHO you'd be better off with a Discovery TD5/Series 2 Much less temperamental and as good on-road and (probably better) off-road than a Rangie.

When you said 4.6 Range I thought you meant the new versions ......
 
if i was you i would though all the problems p38 has then when you go and look take some body with you its not like looking for a car so much more to go wrong and remember over 10 years old now as for 4.6 the miles you do think of a 2.5 with power box go well. goodluck and welcome j
 
I know what u guys r saying I'm open to the disco just seems that u get more for ur money with the rangie or am I wrong the disco 2 start at like 3500 and are specced like tree house
 
I swapped by 2.5 V6 Vectra for my 4.6 Rangie and it costs about the same to run on lpg as the Vectra did on petrol (slightly cheaper actually). I've got a 90 litre tank in the spare wheel well (75 litre effective) and I get about 240 miles out of it.

Unfortunately, it's cost quite a bit in repairs so far as it wasn't quite as perfect as described. This seems to be a fairly common story with P38 buyers.

Looking at some of the posts on here, I've come to the conclusion that people only sell their P38s when they've got something seriously wrong with them and quite often stretch the truth a bit in their adverts so if you are really keen on one then it would be ESSENTIAL to take someone along who knows something about them to check it over. Even then, there's no guarrantee it won't break the following week, but there are few guarrantees in life these days!

This forum is a fantastic place for advice when something does break though!

Well the diesel does about 27-28mpg am I going to beat that with an LPG conversion conciderinh petrol and LPG are cheaper than diesel anyway. Also what year do the disco 2 start at?

The 2.5 is pretty good when fitted with the power box (or re-mapped) and very economical. Less unreliable then the V8 with all it's slipped liner problems. Go for one with the lowest genuine mileage you can find, auto is better than manual in my opinion. No DMF for a start.:D:D:D

Expect to have to do the aircon condensor, airbags and compressor, and maybe blend motors, then you will not be dissapointed when they fail:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
 
hows this when you ready to look for p38 tell us where you are some body may offer to have a look with you some rerlly good guys on here.
 
Just be prepared to spend a fair bit of cash if (when) it goes wrong...

Love my P38 though - wouldn't be without here...
