Hi everyone,

after my first p&p day i've decided some bigger tyres with a mud terrain pattern would be better suited.

Current - Pirelli scorpion At's.

Do i need to buy 5 new MT tyres and fit them to my current alloys?

buy a package of steel wheel and tyres and fit these - what are the benfits of these over alloys.

i've noticed packages only include 4 wheels - surely i would need 5?

can some shed some light on this for me please

entirely up to you. as long as the tyres are the same fitment as your alloys then you will be fine but steel wheels are easier to repair than alloys and if you have 2 sets you can always use your road tyres between pay and play days to help your muds last longer.

What ever you do, buy 5.............otherwise what happens if you damage one when playing ???

I find it very surprising how many landys I see either lifted or not with big MT's fitted, yet still have the standard spare on the rear door ????........

Also, I would "carefully" consider what you buy ref size, as you obviously are starting to "get the bug" and want to mod things, the reason I say this is if you start to play more and "may" want to lift it in the future, then the tyres you buy now to fit a "standard" vehicle, will be a bit small, so you would most likely have to buy again...............something to "think" about.

great thanks for the responses.

It seems just about the same cost to buy them on steels as it does tyres alone.

it drives and grips well in the mud at present so if i was to do one mod next month should i buy new tyres or buy a 2" lift kit and fit that?

As the man says - if you intend to lift then do that before fitting tyres as the only point of lifting the body (it doesnt lift the axles) 2" is so that larger tyres will fit (as it is these that will lift the axle and improve ground clearance)
