hi i have a 300tdi disco and in the morning starting from cold its missfiring. i doesnt apear to be using oil, theres no mayonaise on the dip stick and its no using coolant, so im not suspecting the head gasket. i've put in new push rods ( all were bent ) and checked the valve clearances and set em to .20 of a mm. when it warms up its fine and if you give it a good rev it clears. so any ideas would be welcome.

hi quick update today i went to check the glow plugs and its not got a matched set in think some one has started changing them then give up half way through. some came out no problem but a couple had to have the grips on to pull em out. so have fitted a new set of plugs and checked the tappets as put new push rods in about a week ago and they needed adjusting. the engine was cold and started lovely no miss so far, but will see when i start it up at 5 in the morning to go to work in. changed the spill off pipes when i bought it as they was stuffed. found it was no3 that was missing as undid the injector pipes one at a time and no3 made no difference so might put a new injector in no3 if it still misses.

still missfiring a bit in the morning with the new plugs but nowhere near as much, so have fitted a new injector with new sealing ring today will see what happens in the morning.
