Hi all
Just returned from 3weeks touring France with 1500kg caravan. I love this freelander pulls like a train nice and stable and most of all comfortable..
BUT with 2 nights to go I pulled away from an Aires ( motorway pull in area) I did excelerate a bit harder than usual as it was a short run in to the motorway.WHEN the turbo variable vains when haywire the car jolted a bit then went into limp mod ( low engine performance message) green flag were great but no code reader ( and garages closing for a bank holiday) they put us up in lovely hotel by a lake (happy days) then towed to the ferry 2 days later I limped onto the ferry. And when in Blighty the breakdown company read the codes which gave turbo boost sensor. Reset the codes and bingo away I went and drove home 95 miles no prob.
So 2 things

why did it over boost and
Can any one recommend a relatively cheap code reader/code clearer so could clear and check further codes myself

I suspect the front throttle flap unit may have jammed so will removing and checking that out and probly replace (£100 ish). The mechanic said it could be a blocked egr valve so will clean that as well OR DO I JUST FIT THE BLOCKING PLATE
Any other ideas please.
MIKE
