HiYa

Can you give me an average price for getting a new clutch fitted .Have been told i need one and its not a job i want to do so come on and give me some idea of what i should expect to pay.

freelander.1.8 petrol 1999

thanks

Parts alone are around 100 Euros, you could attempt your self, engine can be removed from the top with a portable hoist (hire for weekend at around 30 Euros)
It is a straight forward job, you will need some coolant and WD40 (for cleaning out the clutch selector arm bottom roller point)
Allow yourself two days (one day for removal and the other for refit)

Cheers Dutch RR

If your taking the 1.8 engine out you best check my thread 'Freelander clutch options', I can not post link via phone, have a look at my threads, Click on my username to view my threads.
good luck

Land Rover main dealer - £700-800
Independent Land Rover Specialist - £300-400
Well equipped DIY - £75 but another 500 quid for the swear box!

Cheers

I can do it for £250 on a 1.8. £350 for a Td4, you supply the bits.

No need to take the engine out, the gearbox is far easier to remove.

I did brianash's clutch for him.

If you are removing driveshafts, IRD, gearbox then all seals should be replaced. They start at a couple of £ for the IRD/gearbox O-Ring (TYX 100490) to £20 each for the driveshaft seals. Any mechanic who doesnt change them is a cowboy.
