When I push the pedal down the car is still pulling and I was having to force it into a gear. I haven't checked the fluid since yesterday but checked it last weekend before driving to somerset. When and how often would you bleed the clutch on a D1? Ive not done it yet in 4 years of owning one.

That's clutch not separating.
Either a leak and fluid low. Master or slave cylinder seals gone, or clutch arm pushed through pivot

It is. My last D1 had 2nd gear crunch. This one has it too.
