I went to have a look at a 2000 Disco 2 TD5 yesterday. It's fine except for a single clunk when entering a left hand corner. Sounds like its coming from the front somewhere and it's moderately loud.

It can't be felt through the steering. And it doesn't do it over bumpy roads.

It's got 160k on it, so it's done a fair few miles.

It's suitably cheap so I'm not massively worried at this stage, but I wondered if anyone had any ideas where I should start my hunt....?

TIA

Loose or worn bushes in radius arms, panhard rod, damper bushes, etc etc ...

However, even though it sounds like the front, very much the same applies to the rear, check all bushes, A-frame, trailing arms and dampers .. :)

Ended up winning the Disco on that auction site and have been looking over it today.

Fixed the clonks from front and rear suspension, both ARB drop links. Rear one on the ACE unit had come completely detached and the front near side was knackered. Replaced both with new ones, now have a nice quiet ride.

Also fixed a dangling trailer electrics plug and a disconnected exhaust mount. Service tomorrow - already done the air and fuel filters :)

Booked an MOT for Monday, expecting a to-do list after that!
