hi all, well its quite icy round my way this morning ,coming back today put the brakes on and got quite a surprise clicking sound through the brake pedal and abit swervey,is that normal on a range ,i have no abs warning lights etc,

thanks ,might just stick to me car till the ice goes as it was a brown pants moment....

mine does it too, and on bumps under braking, don't think its anything to worry but there are reports of the braking system bieng faulty from factory. do a search on brake failure in these forums and you should come up with the thread

It does sound like the ABS doing its job....

Just remember that a 4x4 will pull away nicely in the "ice n snow" but due to the vehicles extra weight, they will slide a lot further than a car if you get it wrong while trying to stop.

I'd be suspicious as my classic did this and thought it was just doing its job when one day had to slam on the brakes, as you do, and they did nothing, the pedal just clicked and i almost went into a fecking great stone wall!
Ripped the lot off and went back to servo assisted off a disco.
Brakes were twice as good as the abs ever was!
Get it checked mate.

Probably just the ABS kicking in which is normal. Could be the problem Nikb refers to but I'm sceptical as Wabco have not only manufactured modulators for LR but other cars as well and the fault has not shown up on them. Both the P38 and the Missus's Vectra pulse the same on icy roads or even when braking on potholed or very bumpy roads.
