Hi everyone wonder if you can help. I own a 2000 diesel freelander auto (I know) now I have just had a recon transfer box done amongst other general wear and tear and after all this low and behold it's now developed an intermittent non start fault. Now when my husband collected it it started he drove for cash and it then wouldn't start it just clicked. Our friend jumped it off it started straight away I drove it two miles to work the next day it started there and back, the next day I drove it there and decided I could move it forwards a bit and it again just clicked, husband jumped it off again that evening all fine. Now he has taken it to work one day 10 miles and its started. It then Sat a day and night and still started for him today. So I'm wondering is it the battery? Once it starts it's fine no dim lights etc......appreciate any thoughts?

Common problem. Just needs a service kit put into the starter solonoid. It'll be the contacts that have burnt.

On a different note. Did you have the VCU replaced at the same time as the IRD? The VCU is what causes the IRD to wear.

Oh and in my opinion. The auto is the best Freelander to drive;)

If its an old battery it doesnt hurt to buy a new one so you dont end up getting stuck somewhere. Most tyer places will do a free battery check. Where did you get the IRD? How much was it?

Thanks guys weirdly it hasn't done it again but We will still start there with it. We had both parts replaced and I think I prob paid a lot less as we had a friend who had his own garage and fits us in around other stuff for serious mates rates so I can't complain
