Hi guys,
I'm currently in the process of tidying up my 03 Freelander 1 and am doing the EGR blanking mod/replacing hoses/cleaning the intake manifold etc, but I also noticed that there is a lot of build up in the cylinder ports going into the engine. Is there anyway of cleaning these up without removing the cylinder head? Or, once the intake is cleaned, will it be budged a bit and work its way through and out of the system? I've attached some pictures to show the extent of my issue, it just seems like quite a large restriction to go ignored...
Ta, Phoebe

I noticed the same issue when cleaning out my inlet manifold and just scraped it out as best I could with a stirring stick.
The car smoked like a train for a few miles but soon cleaned up.

when i done mine i used a hoover , then carefully loosened it off whilst putting the hoover nozzle to catch all the bits
