Disco 2 Cleaned my MAP - OMG

So I cleaned the MAP on my Discovery 2 and it was absolutely caked in oil/crap/crud/black oily stuff.
As you know it's mounted in the air plenum thingy so I am assuming that the whole thing is fully of all this nasty stuff.
Is it something that I should worry about and should I take it all to pieces to clean it out?
Where does it all come from - the crankcase breather is the only source I can think of.

The plenum thingie is the inlet manifold.
It sounds like it could be residual crap, left over in the manifold and pipework from when the EGR was in place. Another place there could be oily crap getting into the system would be the turbo.

I'm pretty certain that the turbo has been replaced not too long ago so it sounds like it's a build up from the EGR and/or an original failed turbo which was all done without them cleaning out the manifold and most likely the intercooler too.
Sounds like another job to add to the list to remove it all and clean it inside
