Classic temp guage clocks sender or head

can anyone here identify these clocks just from looking I have a constant high temp reading, originally its a early V8 so wrong style of clocks to start with and it's been converted to a 300tdi and as far as I can gather this dash wasn't used for a 300 either , trying to figure out if it's a sender at fault or whether it actually runs hot
 
So I would say you need the v8 sensor to match the clocks and wiring.

Has it always read high, or is it a change?

I'm not even sure if it's the right dash or not it's been messed about with a lot it's an 85 so think it should have the early dash in, and it originally didn't have a thermostat in have since put one I haven't taken it on a long journey as didn't want to cook it but sits about 3/4 most of the time and starts to creep up on a hill but not gone into the red , heaters etc stay warm so hasn't blown any water out

The car never had a thermostat when you got it, as the PO converted it ?
You put in the thermostat and now it reads high?

I don’t know what dash it should or shouldn’t be, but both engines have different sensors.
If in doubt buy a cheap standalone temp sensor/gauge to check.

Yes po had done it everything that had been done was horrendous I basically had to rewire everything as it was all very temperamental or lucky if it worked at all, but before I put a stat in it would read about 1/4 or to a half up a long hill but the heating was only ever just warm which leads me to think it's more of a gauge or sender problem or wrong match attached is Po's attempt at the engine harness so obviously was all to a good standard lol

Get a standalone gauge at least then you can be sure you won’t hurt it.
Then it gives you time to work through what you actually have/need.

Looks similar to the dash that my 1987 3.5 so an EFI other than mine was MPH.
As you have a 300 Tdi engine fitted so you require a coolant temp sensor part no. AMR1425 indicated by a green band.
Thermostat if interested is ERR2391.
The range rover dash illuminated indicators are self explanatory.

I will have a look at the temp sender see what it is stat is new and 88 degrees can't remember what the part number was but have got all the relevant warnings etc to work

Does it need an adapter for the 300?

You can tell years by where the filler is.
That’s late 80”s so would have been v8( unless 2 battery trays then a VM diesel)

I did confirm there was the 4x4 logo/light on the dash as they used the same in maestro cars

And @discool has confirmed the part number
Yes was originally a V8 it's an 85 exposed hinge one , but is well butchered before I got my hands on it
 
Checked the sensor and is the green top one that is 300 and V8 according to the part number that discool gave me that's where the guage seems to fluctuate and stay around where it is under normal driving

My disco runs just ‘north’ over the central line, as your gauge also runs just over the central line, being west as its a horizontal display 😊
If it stays that way like mine its not an issue.
 
Same dash as my '86 EFi except mine too is in MPH.

Notwithstanding the LRcat part numbers if you check Rimmers you will see several stats listed for the Classic V8.
They show the 88deg for 'cold climates' an 82deg as 'standard' and a 74deg for 'hot climates'.
FWIW an 88 in mine (CA chassis) shows the needle much where yours is & an 82 puts it pretty much in the middle or very slightly above.
