Hi guys,
The speedo in my '87 RRC has been a bit noisy for a while now, especially in cold weather. The needle gives a steady reading on the road with only the occasional slight 'bounce' below 30mph & the car (therefore presumably the speedo) has only covered 60k from new.
I figure my options are either get the cable re-greased or renew it, though I suppose there could be wear in the angle drive ... is that likely considering the low mileage ?
There are both single & 2 piece cables listed  so if I take the renewal option I'm hoping that a supplier can identify the correct type by the car's VIN #
Thanks folks.

I had that issue a couple of times, Mini and RR so remove the drive and pulled out the inner and pushed it straight back in with engine oil on it, but not on the first 6 inches of the inner that enters the speedo head, just incase, we don’t want oil in the speedo head do we.
10 min job done and in the days before Forums :)
I expect the part numbers will be in my RR parts catalogue.

Mine's an 86 auto.
2 piece cable, the join being inside the vehicle behind the carpet roughly where your left toes are with your foot on the foot rest. The short bit is from there to the angle drive.
It was at the joint that the end of the long cable (PRC 5564) failed on mine so an easy job to replace.

Had the flickering needle some years ago & a few drops of light oil into the angle drive cured it.
IIRC someone (not me!) on another forum once took one apart to clean & regrease & found the grease had gone hard but I think there is a risk of damaging the casing so not recommended.

Many thanks to all for the replies guys.
I'll try the light oil treatment first, but it's good to know the replacement component details should I need it.
Stay safe all.
