Hi All

have been offered a 86 classic with a nissan diesel engine currently starter motor not engaging but may be able to tow start as a manual.

Also the drivers door hinges are shot, these things I am told will see the car for the first time today however am only interested in the cars number plate so not sure weahther to fix the car up or just sell it as a project??.

Can I please ask for some pre purchase advice as to what I should be looking for before jumping in etc.

many thanks in advnace

Tony:)

Rust!!

Have a good crawl round it, check inner wings, boot floor, rear cross member, front foot wells, bottoms of A, B and C pillars, rear wheel arches (under the seat belt mounts). Check the sills as well. Check brake pipes for corrosion, especially across back axle and at the union just behind the front wheels on both sides.

Check steering for play - lots of joints up there. If you get to drive it make sure there isn't excessive whining and clonking from the transmission.
