Hi guys - I have done a search but without success. I have been given a new good quality dash-cam which I can run from the cigar lighter in our daily, but for some strange reason the power plug will not mate with the standard lighter socket(s) in my '87 Classic. The plug goes into the socket but is like a p.... in a bucket so have such basic items changed over the years & if so has anyone come across some form of adapter? I have a hard-wire kit but am concerned about messing with 30 year-old interior trim.
Thanks in advance.

You probably have a metric digital plug on the dash cam and the RRC was fitted with a good old brummie analogue imperial socket.
On a more positive note the dash trim is probably a million more times stronger and much easier to strip than today's digital mounded dash boards and you can probably pick up a live by removing the panel secured by 4 screws under the steering wheel, you could try to go in the back of the fuse box but that's a fiddle.

Thanks for the replies guys - no adaptor so it looks like either (a) pack out the plug to improve the fit or (b) go down the hard-wire route.

Update :
Despite being a sloppy fit the plug does in fact make connection, so I have wedged it tight & the 'cam is working. Will go for the hard-wire when I have both time & courage.
