Hi all..I have just picked up a lovely Vogue SE Merlin which I would like to give a new lease of life however I have the mechanical knowledge of Lily Savage. The car has had a lot of welding done over the last six months and just had a 12 month ticket on it, what I'm after is a bit of local advice if possible, ie someone to cast their eye over Flo (sorry:eek:) so I can make a job list. I am based in Coventry and make a mean cup of tea/coffee any help or advice would be much appreciated..:)

Well I'd be there in a flash, but, there is this pond.

You've found the right place to help you keep it on the road. I'd of sold mine if it were not for this forum. I'm still wondering if that's been a good thing, because now I'm doing a deal on a '94 RRC!

Just got rid of a Grand Cherokee to buy this and it was worth it !!;)..no offence

Just looks tat all the threads that are marked "classic". Plenty to be getting on with!!!

Having the welding done is a major relief.

I have been trawling through them thanks just need piece of mind to put jobs in order of priority, looking to get the car back to a good standard as I like it a lot !!.:D

Classics are awesome, arn't they? Are you on LPG? If so, get the system serviced if it wasn't done recently. Winter is coming so check the coolant/ antifreeze :) Check all the hose connections under the bonnet. Check for bulges on the flexi brake hose.

Keep an eye out for rust. Check under the edges of the windscreen seal on the upper pillar. Keep an eye on the bulkhead, A and B pillars at the bottom and just about any other steel bit. :)

Good to go!

Thanks for that the upper pillars are a bit suspect, not on LPG as my mrs did not get on with it on the cherokee so petrol all the way. The car is not far off sound but needing work...should have had one a long time ago....:)
