At the risk of totally mugging myself off to the nation, but hopefully helping other village idiots in the future, I have continued the battle of sorting out niggles with my recently acquired 1996 P38 4.6 HSE
Last night, I decided to put some CDs into the autochanger and my heart sank at the prospect of yet another problem to sort out. I could hear the changer working to select and change CDs, and the display on the stereo head unit confirmed that the CDs were there. It was as though they were ready to play, but the unit couldn't find the tracks. The code on the display was 'CDAC EG6'
I searched this site for the code or any info - nothing. I began research into common faults and cleaning the CD unit or how much it might cost to replace or send to Clarion to fix.
Then, the brainwave (a rare event). You probably guessed this after line 1. I took the CD cartridge out and right enough, I'd inserted every one of my CDs in upside down. They play much better right way up. The Wurzels never sounded so good. One less niggle to sort and the time I've saved will be used filling out my application for MENSA. Perhaps I should try DENSA first?!
