I've got some chequer plate for my bonnet and noticed that the wing tops which had been fitted by the previous owner have some kind of padding between the chequer plate and the wings, seems like a sensible idea does anyone know what material and thickness is best to use? Ideally want it all to look the same.

Also I am not sure about how to fix it. The chequer plate is probably 2mm so I'm not sure if that is thick enough to countersink the fixings? Would it be a bit savage to just pop rivet it on? I don't want it lifting in the wind etc. The wings are some kind of rivet screw things, not sure what size was used

Thanks raywin. I had a look at what has been used before and they are just countersunk m6 screw bolts and nylock nuts so I'll go with the same with some of that neoprene sheet underneath.

I bedded mine on some black silicon (might have been tiger seal). That way no crap can gather under the plate.
