Just been having a look at prices for 200 and 300 tdi engines and gearboxes as if I was going to stick one in me 110.

Buy a transfer box and it'll cost about 100 squid

Buy an R280 box and lookin at 150 to 200 squid

Buy a good 200 tdi and your lookin at 350 sqid

That's 650 squid for enine and boxes and then you need rads etc for your conversion.

or
Engine and boxes as a lump ready to go in 450 squid and it aint been messed about.

just watchin to see what they all make.:)

prob the best route, you can hear the engine running and scrap what you havent used to make some money back :)

More and more peeps are selling the motor out of their rusty discos though, 'cause they can get 400 quid and then weigh the rest in fo 150 so gettin 550 for an mot failure.:)

The real reason I'm looking at this is because I have a 300 tdi with R280 box and transfer box with all ancillaries and rad etc and was wondering whether to split it up and sell the bits separate or put it in the for sale section as it is.
Need to maximise profit now the 110 is to be scrapped as I need a diesel estate car for running about and need to generate some cash to pay for it.:)

if you need the cash selling in one piece will more than likely sell faster

breaking it has a good chance of getting more money but you could be sitting on some parts for a while but the engine and gearbox shouldnt hang around for too long if priced right

That's fine if they have the space, time, and knowledge....fortunately, many just want rid of the rusting old hulk asap. :)

btw....the 110 you are scrapping....is the PAS Pump to steering box pipe available? :D

The power steering pump and pipes were left on when I took the engine out so yes they are still there.
It is a 1984 factory V8 model 110 model just to make sure they are the correct pipes.

And is the steering box a 6 bolt un?

Steering box is the original 1984 110 item so don't think so.

I have an original 84 steering box too...3 bolt type. (see pic)
Is the connector at the steering box end that I really need - the middle size of the three - rather than the whole pipe.

Sure I can sort that out for you but it may be Thurs before I can get to it as my grand daughter has been missing since Friday morning and not getting much done as you can imagine.
She is 15 but still a worry and having to stay by phone at home.
