Cheap alternative to key fob

Yes a good idea I think Halfords or Maplin sell something similar but.. you will still have to retain your disco fob so you will have two fobs to carry, the disco uses a 'rolling code' for extra security therefore it's never the same. A good idea though with endless possibilities.

That's what I wasn't sure of, if it uses a rolling code - therefore will not work the locking as cannot learn the codes.

Will just go for a 2 channel version then.

I dunno, it's strange for me but i doubt that it can "learn" the Land Rover encryption and as far as i know the RKE frequency is 433,92MHz not 433. U cant just round off decimals in UHF. I'm very skeptic on this and my scepticism will fade away after i'll see the first happy user of this device on this forum(i mean to use it on a Landy;))

I was just wondering it it could be wired direct to the central locking of the Disco to then not need the Land Rover one?

It doesent matter what frequency as long as the rransmitter and the receiver are the same, it's the data that is transmitted over that frequency that does.

Land Rover give their fequency as 433MHz for the UK and Europe thats the one that that has been allocated now by the "powers to be" for general use and for all sorts of security and alarm systems when in the old days frequency 173MHz was used for these applications..

This item could be wired to a stand-alone central locking system as that only requires two signals lock and unlock or any other simple bit of kit ie. switching lighting and that requires a standard two or four channel comms as this item requires.
