I am going to change the front and rear discs and pads on my P38 DSE.

Is it nescessary to buy STC1910 and STC1920? These are the calipers guide pin kits.

Or can they usually be cleaned up to remove any rust/dirt/brake dust?

Also should I be OK to use any bolts that have to be removed to do the job.

Will I just need some thread lock?

Cheers Simon

you can reuse the bolts, i have, the slide pins maybe a different story. they tend to seize in the hole they go in, heat and plenty of wd40, will get them out, i had to drill one out!

rover 75 front calipers are the same tho!!!

its probably best to take a wheel off and see how it goes, it will be the same pin on each caliper bottom on one side and top on the opposite side. something to do with the machining process used i think!!

they prolly come out easy if the cars been looked after john but as we know, mine wasnt prior to me getting it! hence the bloody nightmares i'm having!!!

can you program disco 2 keys with your kit? or does it have to go through dealer, some ones bought some off ebay and wants to know if it can be done??

The sliding pins were fine, I just cleaned the calipers up and re greased the pins.

The disc retaing screw on all 4 discs would not move and I had to drill the head off, which was very easy, only took a minute, but I did not have any new ones to replace them, not that they are really needed.

I was nicely suprised how very easy the discs and pads were to change on all 4 corners.

A very good set up indeed.

I used Britpart drilled and grooved discs all round with red stuff pads.

The brakes are much better than before, a definate bite can be felt now. The also look the part too.
